About One Vibe Africa /Young Generation Center
One Vibe Africa is a youth empowerment organization that uses arts, culture, and creative education to transform communities across Africa and the diaspora. Founded in 2008 in response to post-election violence in Kenya, the organization has evolved into a movement that mentors young artists, produces cultural events, creates educational content, and fosters international collaboration. Their mission centers on creating a unified African narrative by connecting Africans 'at home' with those in the diaspora, starting with youth engagement. Key initiatives include the Education Music & Art Program (EMAP), which trains youth in creative skills; the annual Madaraka Festival, a cultural event that raises funds and awareness; and One Vibe Studio and One Vibe Films, which generate income through music recording and filmmaking services. The organization reports impacting over 15,000 youth artists across 12+ African countries, with 30,000+ annual event attendees and 15+ years of community work. Current goals involve stabilizing programs in Kenya and Seattle to replicate their model in other communities, with interest from countries like Botswana, South Africa, Ghana, and Jamaica. One Vibe Africa operates primarily through volunteer efforts and partnerships, focusing on cultural preservation, youth mentorship, and sustainable community development.
