About National Oil Service Station
The National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOC) is a fully integrated state-owned corporation established in April 1981 under Kenyan law. It operates across the entire petroleum supply chain, including upstream oil and gas exploration, midstream infrastructure development, and downstream marketing of petroleum products. The corporation's activities began with petroleum exploration in the Lamu Basin in the 1950s, leading to the first commercially viable oil discovery in 2012 in the Tertiary rift. Additionally, NOC is implementing the Mwananchi Gas Project, a national LPG enhancement initiative in collaboration with the Kenyan government's Ministry of Energy and Petroleum. The corporation aims to enhance Kenya's energy security by reducing reliance on external oil sources, as emphasized by its leadership. Its board includes experienced industry figures like Eng. Patrick Obath, appointed in October 2021.
