Tanathi Water Works Development Agency (TAWWDA) is one of nine Water Works Development Agencies established in Kenya, operating as a government entity focused on water and sanitation infrastructure. The agency serves four counties: Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, and Kajiado.

Its core mission is to sustainably develop, maintain, and manage national public water and sanitation infrastructure within its jurisdiction to support socio-economic development. TAWWDA's vision emphasizes providing accessible, adequate, clean, and safe water and sanitation services.

Key activities include constructing and expediting delivery of water and sewerage infrastructure, drilling and equipping boreholes, building small dams, water pans, and shallow wells, and providing technical services and capacity building to county governments and water service providers.

The agency also operates water works as a mandated Water Service Provider under Section 68(b) of the Water Act 2016 and offers reserve capacity for water services as per Section 68(c). TAWWDA emphasizes professionalism, with fully licensed engineers and technicians, and follows competitive tendering processes for projects.

It aims to equitably distribute water and sewerage infrastructure across its service area, contributing to Kenya's 'Big Four Agenda' and serving a population of approximately 5 million people.
