About Subuku Secondary School
Subuku Secondary School is a community-established educational institution located in Kihingo Division, Njoro Sub-County, Nakuru County, Kenya. Founded in January 2013 by local residents, the school was created to address the low transition rate from primary to secondary education caused by long travel distances and limited financial resources in the area. Starting with just one Form One class and two teachers from the Teachers Service Commission, the school has experienced steady growth in student enrollment, teaching staff, and infrastructure development through ongoing community support. The institution emphasizes academic growth, discipline, and cooperation between teachers, parents, and students. Subuku Secondary School provides a modern learning environment with clean classrooms, well-equipped science laboratories for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics experiments, a library with diverse resources, and sports facilities. The school offers various extracurricular activities including boys and girls football teams, rugby, table tennis, volleyball, netball, and a Scout Club that focuses on outdoor activities, leadership training, and community service. Leadership includes Principal Mr. Hezron Muturi Wainaina (2024-present) and Deputy Principal Mr. John Maina Mwangi (2013-present), who guide the school with an emphasis on discipline, innovation, and academic excellence.
